President Muizzu Urges Police: Reveal Truth Fast, Win Public Trust

By Ahmed Ashraf Published April 25, 2025

In a stirring address marking the 92nd anniversary of the Maldives Police Service, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu emphasized the critical importance of transparency and timely information dissemination by law enforcement to bolster public trust.

The ceremony, held at the Hulhumalé Synthetic Track, was attended by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, state ministers, senior police officials, and other high-ranking government representatives.

President Muizzu underscored that providing accurate information promptly not only enhances public confidence but also enables the police to perform their duties more effectively. He highlighted that such transparency is vital in preventing the spread of misinformation, particularly in politically charged environments, and urged the police to engage more closely with communities.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, President Muizzu announced plans to extend full access to police services across the nation. This initiative includes improvements in resources, infrastructure, and service delivery mechanisms. By the end of the year, police services are expected to be established in all inhabited islands, with dedicated police stations planned for 110 islands over the next three years. Emphasis is also being placed on equipping the police force with the necessary training and facilities to enhance their capabilities.

Upon arrival at the ceremony, the President was honored with a guard of honor. During the event, he presented commemorative mementoes to police personnel in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the service.

President Muizzu’s address reflects a broader vision of strengthening the Maldives Police Service and fostering a culture of openness and accountability. By prioritizing transparency and community engagement, the administration aims to build a more resilient and trustworthy law enforcement institution that serves the needs of all Maldivians.
