The National Hotels and Guesthouses Association of Maldives (NHGAM) has officially launched the 2025 edition of its flagship publication, I AM Maldives, at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai. The unveiling ceremony featured Maldives’ Minister of Tourism and Environment, Thoriq Ibrahim, alongside Ibrahim Shiury, Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), and NHGAM President Abdulla Nasheed.
Building upon its inaugural release in 2024, the latest edition of I AM Maldives emphasizes the nation’s commitment to community-based tourism under the theme “Culture, Community, and Connection.” The magazine offers readers an immersive look into authentic Maldivian experiences, highlighting local traditions, sustainable tourism initiatives, and the unique offerings of guesthouses and hotels across the inhabited islands.
“This publication serves as a vital platform for our local guesthouses and community-driven tourism ventures to gain international exposure,” said Abdulla Nasheed. “By showcasing the rich cultural tapestry and sustainable practices of our islands, we aim to provide travelers with genuine and meaningful experiences.”
The 2025 edition is set for widespread distribution, reaching all member islands and featuring prominently at international roadshows, tourism councils, and global travel exhibitions throughout the year. This strategic dissemination is designed to bolster occupancy rates for smaller accommodations and amplify the Maldives’ presence in emerging markets.
NHGAM’s efforts align with broader initiatives to diversify the Maldives’ tourism portfolio. Recent roadshows in Azerbaijan and Georgia attracted over 300 travel industry professionals, fostering new partnerships and promoting community island tourism. These events, supported by collaborations with airlines and travel agencies, underscore the growing interest in the Maldives as a destination that offers more than just luxury resorts.
As the Maldives continues to position itself as a leader in sustainable and community-focused tourism, the I AM Maldives magazine stands as a testament to the nation’s dedication to preserving its cultural heritage while inviting the world to experience its unique charm.
