President Muizzu: The Nation Marches Forward on the Shoulders of Its Workers

By Ahmed Ashraf Published May 1, 2025

In a stirring address marking International Workers’ Day, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu called upon parents to instill a strong work ethic in their children, emphasizing the importance of diligence and industry as cornerstones of the nation’s advancement. He highlighted that the collective effort of every citizen is vital to achieving the progress Maldivians aspire to.

President Muizzu underscored the government’s commitment to expanding economic activities and creating more job opportunities across the nation. He stressed the necessity of integrating work ethics and skills training into the educational curriculum to cultivate a workforce capable of propelling the nation forward.

Aligning national development with Islamic principles, the President urged every Muslim to engage in work to the best of their ability, following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He affirmed that the energy and strength of the Maldivian nation undeniably stem from its diligent workers, who have been instrumental in bringing the country to its current standing and will continue to drive it toward future aspirations.

He emphasized that the nation’s daily progress is a testament to the unwavering efforts of its workforce.

Concluding his address, the President called for a unified national effort, where society comes together to initiate endeavors that leave no citizen unemployed, reinforcing the idea that the nation’s prosperity is a shared responsibility.

This address reflects President Muizzu’s broader vision of fostering a prosperous lifestyle for all Maldivian workers within his tenure, as previously articulated in his commitments to labor rights and economic development.
