In a stirring message that echoed across the nation on the International Day of Living Together in Peace, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu called for unity, tolerance, and inclusion to serve as cornerstones of the Maldives’ national development.
Speaking on the global day of observance established by the United Nations, President Muizzu framed diversity not as a challenge, but as an engine of strength that drives national progress. “Let us celebrate the diversity in our society not with suspicion, but with pride,” he urged. “It is our shared differences that shape our collective strength and pave the path for a more resilient Maldives.”
The annual observance, recognised internationally since 2018, serves as a platform for promoting peaceful coexistence, dialogue, and reconciliation. This year, the president’s message took on greater urgency as he encouraged Maldivians to reinforce national cohesion through mutual understanding.
President Muizzu also highlighted the administration’s proactive steps to make inclusive development a reality—particularly for people with disabilities. From nationwide vocational training schemes to expanded workplace accessibility measures, the government is actively working to ensure that every citizen has a stake in the country’s progress.
But inclusion, the president stressed, is not merely social—it is strategic. “The future of this nation depends on our ability to uplift every community,” he said. “Only by building an inclusive and peaceful society can we unlock the full potential of our people.”
At the same time, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balancing social progress with national security. Policy reforms and institutional strengthening remain ongoing to protect peace and safeguard public order, he noted.
In a political climate often marked by division, President Muizzu’s call for tolerance and unity signals a forward-looking vision—one where peace is more than the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice, respect, and opportunity for all.
