Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced a planned maintenance operation that will lead to a temporary disruption of its digital services on the night of June 20.
The brief outage, lasting approximately 30 minutes, will occur between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. local time. During this window, customers may experience interruptions to key banking services, including internet banking, the main website, ATMs, point-of-sale terminals, card services, the USD‑booking portal, and the payment gateway.
BML selected the early‑morning timeframe to minimize impact on its users. The bank extended its apologies for any inconvenience and emphasised that the maintenance is essential to sustain the reliability and security of its digital infrastructure.
This operation forms part of BML’s broader system enhancement plan, which includes an ongoing upgrade of its digital architecture. At the bank’s recent Annual General Meeting, CEO Mohamed Shareef reported that around 99 percent of transactions now occur digitally and highlighted that such scheduled interruptions remain rare but necessary .
Customers are advised to plan accordingly and reach out to the Bank’s customer care team for assistance if they encounter any persistent issues following the maintenance.
