Eeezap, the widely used Maldivian super‑app, experienced a sudden service interruption today as the company initiated an urgent upgrade of its server infrastructure. Speaking directly to The Standard, eeezap’s CEO confirmed the decision was prompted by a rapid surge in user downloads, creating vulnerabilities the company deemed critical to address.
In the conversation, the CEO explained that the unexpected influx of users raised “a significant risk to customer data security,” prompting the immediate action. The upgrade, he added, is part of an ongoing commitment to reinforce the platform’s resilience and safety.
Affected users—including individuals, restaurants, retailers, and delivery drivers—are being advised to uninstall and reinstall the app. According to the CEO, this step aligns each device with the updated server framework and is essential for restoring normal service.
The CEO conveyed sincere apologies for the disruption and extended gratitude for the patience and cooperation displayed by the eeezap community. “Your support is invaluable as we fortify our systems,” he told The Standard.
