Addu City turned into a vibrant festival ground this weekend as more than 3,000 participants gathered for the Ooredoo Fun Run 2025, marking a new milestone in community events across the Maldives.
The highly anticipated 5K run, held under clear skies and surrounded by the scenic beauty of the southernmost atoll, transcended the typical race format. Instead, it became an unforgettable celebration of health, unity, and joy. Foam, color, and obstacle stations dotted each kilometer of the route, transforming it into a dynamic playground that brought smiles to runners of all ages — from young children to grandparents.
Participants were awarded medals featuring “Dhon Dheeni,” a bird native to Addu City, underscoring the event’s strong connection to local heritage and identity.
Unlike conventional races, the Fun Run emphasized community spirit over competition. Families and friends came together to run, dance, and create lasting memories, strengthening bonds and reinforcing the power of collective experiences.
Ooredoo has been organizing two editions of the Fun Run annually for the past three years, with previous island editions held in Kulhudhuffushi and Laamu before arriving in Addu this year.
By blending entertainment with wellness and community engagement, Ooredoo continues to showcase its commitment to promoting health, happiness, and digital inclusion throughout the Maldives. The Addu City Fun Run stands as a testament to the meaningful impact corporate initiatives can have in uniting and uplifting local communities.
