MACL Confirms No Links to Israel-Supporting Event Firms in New Terminal Opening

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 8 hours ago

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has strongly refuted allegations broadcast by Raajje TV, accusing the channel of deliberately spreading false information to mislead the public and undermine the government.

Speaking to local media outlet MMTV, MACL Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Lamaan firmly denied claims that a company allegedly funding Israel has been awarded the arrangement of the opening ceremony for Velana International Airport’s new terminal. He described these reports as “deliberate lies” aimed at creating division and mistrust among the public.

Lamaan clarified that Banana Split, the company mentioned in the allegations, has no involvement in any aspect of the terminal’s inauguration. “We have no deal with that company, nor have we assigned any work to them,” he stated emphatically. “I assure the Maldivian people that we will never entrust any responsibility to a company that supports Israel.”

Condemning the spread of what he termed baseless slander, Lamaan stressed that MACL will report the matter to the relevant authorities for further investigation.

Emphasizing the significance of the upcoming terminal opening, Lamaan highlighted it as a major milestone achieved under President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s administration. He underscored that the event will be a grand and historic occasion, reflecting the government’s commitment to modernizing the nation’s aviation infrastructure and strengthening its global connectivity.
