4000 Flat Recipients to Sign Agreements from July 21 — Fahi Portal to Notify Dates

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 16 hours ago

In a significant step toward alleviating the Greater Malé housing shortage, Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) will begin signing agreements with recipients of 4,000 newly constructed social housing units in Hulhumalé Phase II. The ceremony is scheduled to start on Monday, 21 July 2025, following final recipient selection by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure.

📌 Key Details

  • Date & time: From 9 AM to 4 PM, recipients will gather at designated zones within the Hulhumalé Synthetic Track over multiple days; specific locations and schedules will be announced via FDC’s official channels.
  • Prioritization: The process gives precedence to towers where homes have been fully completed and are ready for possession.
  • Notification: Recipients will receive personal appointment details through the “Fahi Portal”.

Required Documents

When attending the signing, recipients must present:

  1. Photo ID (both sides) of the primary tenant
  2. Co-applicant’s photo ID (both sides)
  3. Original + copy of witness’s ID
  4. Signed original applicant form
  5. Any additional requested documentation

Unit Specifications & Social Housing Objectives

Each flat, part of the largest social housing initiative in the Greater Malé region, will be fully finished upon handover, including: ceiling fans, windows, doors, tiled flooring, painted interiors, and bathroom fixtures with sinks . These units form part of a 25-year rent-to-own model devised by the Minister of Construction, Dr Abdulla Muththalib, aimed at tackling rent defaults and fostering property ownership.

Project Overview & Context

  • The 32-tower development—comprising 16 Amaan Udhares towers by India’s JMC and 16 Amaan Dhoadhi towers built by NBCC—contains a mix of two- and three-bedroom apartments totaling 4,000 units.
  • Initially stalled at just one-third completion under the previous administration, progress surged to over 95% in key areas after renewed government focus.
  • Final stages now hinge on utility connections by STELCO and MWSC—paving the way for phased handovers through September 2025.

What This Means for Residents

  • 25-year rent-to-own agreements give residents a clear path to full ownership after completing rental payments .
  • Each flat arrives turnkey-ready—no further investment required upon move-in.
  • The signing starts the legal transition for recipients to move in and begin occupancy.

🔎 What Comes Next

FDC will soon release detailed schedules and zone maps via its official platforms.

Recipients should monitor the Fahi Portal regularly, complete required paperwork, and arrive on time.

Utility service rollouts will continue; tower-by-tower activation will determine keys exchange and access.

This milestone marks a pivotal moment in Maldives’ social housing journey—lifting 4,000 families from temporary accommodation to smart, sustainable housing within Greater Malé. As FDC steers the agreement-signing process, recipients’ preparedness will ensure a smooth transition into their new homes.

For further updates, recipients should follow FDC’s channels and the Fahi Portal.
