The India’s Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has issued a nationwide security alert, directing all airports and aviation stakeholders to intensify safety protocols in response to a potential terror threat between September 22 and October 2, 2025.
The advisory, dated August 4, was circulated following specific intelligence input from central security agencies suggesting a possible plot by a Pakistani terror group targeting civil aviation infrastructure across India. In light of the threat, BCAS has called for heightened vigilance across all aviation installations, including airports, airstrips, airfields, helipads, and air force stations.
“All stakeholders at all airports are directed to enhance security measures” the advisory stated, emphasizing the need for a coordinated effort involving local police, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and other relevant authorities.
Key directives include:
- Tightened identity verification for all airport personnel, contractors, and visitors;
- 24/7 surveillance through operational and actively monitored CCTV systems;
- Immediate reporting of any alerts or intelligence to all relevant agencies and stakeholders.
The directive has been disseminated to all concerned bodies, including state police units, airline operators, and airport authorities, urging them to remain on high alert and ensure zero lapses in security preparedness.
The move comes amid increasing concerns over aviation security in the region, prompting authorities to adopt a proactive approach to counter emerging threats and ensure the safety of passengers and aviation personnel.
