President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed deep gratitude to Singapore’s leadership and people for the warm welcome extended during his recent state visit, describing the trip as a pivotal moment in strengthening bilateral relations.
In a social media post following his departure, President Muizzu thanked President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, and the Singaporean government for their generous hospitality. He emphasized that the visit underscored both nations’ shared commitment to deepening cooperation across key sectors.
During the visit, the Maldives and Singapore signed several significant memoranda of understanding, marking concrete steps toward enhanced collaboration. These agreements cover environment and sustainability, higher education, technical and vocational training, cooperation with the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise, and capacity-building initiatives through study visits.
President Muizzu also highlighted the Maldives-Singapore Business Forum, which showcased promising opportunities for trade and investment, further strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
As the Maldives and Singapore commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations, President Muizzu voiced his confidence that this visit has laid the foundation for a new era of partnership, bringing mutual benefits and advancing shared development goals.
