In a significant leadership transition, Aishath Nurain Janah has been appointed as the new Chairperson of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the state-owned enterprise responsible for managing Velana International Airport and other key aviation infrastructure across the Maldives.
The appointment was confirmed on May 29, 2025, by the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB), marking a pivotal moment for MACL as it continues to play a central role in the nation’s aviation and tourism sectors.
Ms. Nurain brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the Chairperson of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), where she was instrumental in promoting the Maldives as a premier tourist destination. In her new capacity at MACL, Ms. Nurain is expected to oversee ongoing projects aimed at expanding and modernizing the country’s airport infrastructure.
