President Dr Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development and inclusivity in sports as he graced the closing ceremony of the Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open 2025 Badminton Tournament, held this evening at the Kulhivaru Ekuveni Badminton Hall.
The President joined hundreds of spectators to witness the thrilling finals of the tournament. In the doubles match, Team Malé clashed with Team Eydhafushi, while the singles final saw a spirited battle between Hulhudhoo Boy and an Indian contender.
Underscoring his dedication to empowering athletes, President Muizzu personally presented trophies, medals, and certificates to the champions. Special recognition was also given to the Women’s and Men’s Special Olympics players, with awards distributed to celebrate their determination and achievements.
Speaking at the event, the President highlighted his government’s ongoing drive to strengthen sports and fitness opportunities nationwide. He stressed that new international tournaments will be brought to the Maldives, ensuring Maldivian athletes not only gain exposure on the global stage but also enjoy equal opportunities across all disciplines of sport.
