Bank of Maldives Backs Nation’s Biggest Showcase as Main Sponsor of Maldives Expo 2025

By Hussain Shinan Published May 20, 2025

In a significant show of support for national development and local enterprise, the Bank of Maldives (BML) has officially signed on as the Main Sponsor of Maldives Expo 2025, one of the country’s most anticipated cultural and business showcases.

The sponsorship agreement was sealed during a ceremony held at the Bank’s head office, with BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, Minister of State for Economic Development and Trade Hussain Zamir, and Business Center Corporation (BCC) Managing Director Ibrahim Ziyau in attendance.

The Expo, which is set to spotlight the best of Maldivian culture, innovation, entrepreneurship, and creative industries, is expected to draw participation from across sectors, offering a vibrant platform for collaboration, visibility, and growth.

Bank of Maldives, long regarded as a key player in the country’s financial ecosystem, sees this partnership as an extension of its broader mission to support nation-building initiatives and empower local talent. By backing the Expo, BML aims to help elevate homegrown businesses, promote cultural expression, and nurture the creative economy.

“We are proud to stand behind a platform that celebrates the spirit of Maldivian innovation and resilience,” said Mohamed Shareef. “Maldives Expo 2025 will not only spotlight local talent but also provide opportunities for entrepreneurs and creative professionals to connect, grow, and thrive.”

The event is expected to serve as a springboard for new ventures, policy dialogue, and cultural exchange, aligning with the government’s vision for a more diversified and knowledge-driven economy.

As preparations for the Expo gain momentum, the partnership between BML and BCC signals a strong public-private synergy aimed at shaping a more inclusive and dynamic future for the Maldives.

More details about the Maldives Expo 2025, including dates and exhibitor opportunities, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
