Bank of Maldives (BML) has officially inaugurated self-service banking ATM services in H.Dh. Finey today, marking another milestone under its nationwide initiative “Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM”. The ceremony was graced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Cabinet Ministers, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, and senior executives of the country’s leading financial institution.
The Finey launch is part of a wider expansion plan across Haa Dhaalu Atoll, with BML set to introduce ATM services in 10 additional islands this week. Once completed, every inhabited island in the atoll will be equipped with ATM access, ensuring communities benefit from uninterrupted banking services closer to home.
Speaking at the inauguration, BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to community empowerment through financial accessibility.
“Our investment to expand the ATM network in Finey and beyond reflects our dedication to bringing banking closer to our people. Residents and visitors alike will now enjoy 24/7 access to world-class self-service banking without the need to travel to another island” he said.
BML’s expansion comes at a time when President Muizzu’s administration is prioritizing decentralization, digital access, and community-driven economic growth. The government has consistently emphasized the role of financial inclusion in empowering citizens, aligning with BML’s strategic initiatives.
As the Maldives’ largest financial institution, BML operates 41 branches across all 20 atolls, 146 Self-Service Banking Centres, 204 ATMs, and an extensive suite of advanced digital banking solutions. With this expansion, the Bank further strengthens its reputation as a pillar of national development and a trusted partner in bringing financial independence to every corner of the country.
