Bank of Maldives (BML) has conducted a series of information sessions at Education Centres in GA. and GDh. Atoll to raise awareness about Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and financial security. The initiative forms part of BML’s ongoing community engagement efforts aimed at strengthening digital literacy and promoting safe banking practices across the Maldives.
The sessions, held in collaboration with local education authorities, targeted students and teachers with a focus on digital safety, responsible use of online platforms, and the importance of cybersecurity in financial transactions. BML highlighted the growing role of ICT in everyday life and emphasized how digital literacy equips younger generations with the skills needed to thrive in a technology-driven economy.
During the sessions, the bank’s representatives shared practical guidance on identifying online scams, protecting personal information, and using banking services securely. The program also introduced participants to emerging digital tools and services that are transforming the banking sector in the Maldives, including mobile banking applications and online payment platforms.
BML’s outreach reflects its broader commitment to supporting the national digital transformation agenda. By engaging directly with schools in regional communities, the bank aims to bridge digital knowledge gaps, enhance financial awareness, and build long-term trust in digital financial services.
The initiative follows similar awareness campaigns previously conducted in other atolls, further underscoring BML’s nationwide role as not just a financial service provider, but also an active partner in community development and education.
