Bank of Maldives (BML) has further broadened its footprint in Raa Atoll with the official opening of a new BML Islamic branch in Dhuvaafaru, marking a continued commitment to financial inclusion and Shari’ah-compliant banking. The branch was inaugurated today by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, in a ceremony attended by BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb and Deputy CEO and COO Sahar Waheed.
The new branch will deliver a comprehensive suite of Islamic banking services, aligned with the Bank’s “Islamic Finance First” approach that prioritizes Shari’ah-compliant financial solutions across its Islamic product portfolio. This latest addition reflects BML’s strategic focus on diversifying service delivery and reaching underserved communities throughout the archipelago.
With this launch, BML now operates 40 branches spanning all 20 atolls of the Maldives. The Bank’s service infrastructure also includes 133 Self-Service Banking Centres, 188 ATMs, a robust Agent Banking network, and a suite of cutting-edge digital banking platforms tailored to evolving consumer needs.
BML, established in 1982 with its first branch in Malé, has since grown into the nation’s leading financial institution. Its ongoing investment in both physical and digital access points reinforces its mission to make inclusive banking a reality for every inhabited island in the country.
The Dhuvaafaru branch marks another milestone in the Bank’s commitment to equitable access and customer-focused innovation in the Maldivian financial sector.
