In response to the ongoing power outage affecting the Greater Malé region, Dhiraagu, the Maldives’ leading telecommunications provider, has announced that its mobile cell sites are currently operating on battery backup systems.

The company released a public advisory on social media, stating: “During this commercial power failure in Greater Malé, our mobile cell sites are currently operating on battery backup.” Dhiraagu expressed gratitude for customers’ understanding and apologized for any inconvenience caused.

The power outage, which began earlier today, has disrupted various services across the capital region. Authorities are actively working to restore electricity, but no official timeline has been provided.
