The Artificial Beach in Male’ buzzed with youthful energy on May 10, 2025, as the Young Entrepreneur Fair unfolded, celebrating Children’s Day with a showcase of budding business talents. Jointly organized by Dhiraagu and the Children’s Ombudsperson’s Office, the event spotlighted the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of the nation’s youth.
Fifty-one young participants, operating 24 diverse stalls, presented an array of products and services. From homemade delicacies and handcrafted art to self-authored books and a mental health app, the fair highlighted the innovative capabilities of these young minds.
“Providing such opportunities for children encourages their skills to develop and boosts their self-confidence,” remarked Children’s Ombudsperson Niumath Shafeeg. “I’m very proud of the skills these children demonstrated.”
In preparation for the fair, participants and their parents attended an informative session featuring entrepreneurs who shared insights from their business journeys. Topics covered included financial literacy and the use of digital payment platforms like Dhiraagu Pay. Additionally, a special session on safe internet practices was conducted under the Dhiraagu NetProtect initiative.
“It’s a great pleasure for us to support this important event,” said Bishara Hameed, Senior Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility at Dhiraagu. “Increasing awareness about entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and online safety is a key goal of our CSR program.”
The Young Entrepreneur Fair not only celebrated Children’s Day but also underscored the importance of nurturing the next generation’s skills and confidence, laying the foundation for a vibrant entrepreneurial future in the Maldives.
