Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that resurfacing work on the entrance road of Velana International Airport is currently underway as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and ensure the safety of all airport users.
According to MACL, the project will be carried out in four phases and is scheduled for completion by July 7, 2025. To minimize disruption to passengers and staff, the work is being conducted during off-peak hours, with lane closures in place daily from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Estate Security Service staff will be stationed on-site throughout the construction period to oversee traffic flow and safeguard both drivers and pedestrians. In addition, clear road closure signage, lane segregation markings, and barriers have been installed to help guide motorists safely through the affected areas.
MACL has apologized for any inconvenience this essential project may cause, emphasizing that the safety and comfort of airport users remain the company’s top priority. Once completed, the upgraded entrance road is expected to significantly improve access to the airport and contribute to a smoother, safer arrival experience for all visitors.
