In a special message commemorating the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu underscored that the continued adherence to Islamic principles is essential for overcoming social challenges and ensuring lasting national prosperity.
In his official address, Dr. Muizzu stated that the nation’s security, public well‑being, and overall cohesion are deeply linked to its Islamic identity. He encouraged Maldivians to reaffirm their spiritual commitments as a catalyst for collective resilience.
The President invoked the Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina as a guiding historical event. Highlighting the selfless sacrifice of Ali sleeping in the Prophet’s bed, the three‑day shelter in the Cave of Thawr, and Amir ibn Fuhayrah’s discreet efforts to shield their path, President Muizzu described these episodes as emblematic of tawakkul (trust in Allah) and vigilance amidst adversity.
President Muizzu also praised the contributions of Abdullah ibn Abu Bakr, who acted as an informant, and Asma bint Abu Bakr, who delivered essential provisions during the Cave episode. He emphasised their roles to illustrate the critical impact of youth and women in societal development. Additionally, he noted how turning to trustworthy non‑Muslim allies, as seen in the Hijrah, reinforces unity through shared capabilities.
Acknowledging the unrest afflicting parts of the Muslim world—particularly Palestine—President Muizzu called for sincere prayers from Maldivians for the safety, peace, and stability of fellow Muslims abroad.
In his closing remarks, the President offered a heartfelt supplication for the Ummah’s protection against adversarial schemes. He prayed for Allah’s support in granting victory to Muslim nations and bestowing honour, independence, Islamic virtue, and prosperity upon the Maldives.
