First Lady Sajidha praises Ahmadhiyya’s legacy, inspires students to lead with knowledge and values

By Ahmed Ashraf Published September 6, 2025

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has hailed Ahmadhiyya International School as a pillar of academic excellence with a proud legacy of nurturing generations of responsible citizens. She made the remarks this morning while addressing the school’s annual Prize Awarding Ceremony for secondary students.

In her speech, the First Lady underscored that the institution’s success is deeply rooted in community support, parental unity, and the goodwill that has guided its growth since its humble beginnings. She reflected on her own student years, noting that she too had witnessed the school’s high standards and strong values.

Highlighting that education is both a blessing and a responsibility, the First Lady urged students to view the pursuit of knowledge as a lifelong journey. She called on them to grow into proud Maldivians of faith, uphold good morals, work with dedication, and remain open to global opportunities. “Knowledge combined with sound values and dignity can serve as a powerful force for humanity,” she stressed.

Turning to parents and teachers, the First Lady appealed for closer collaboration in shaping young minds. She emphasized the importance of leading by example at home and reinforcing discipline and values within the school environment.

During the ceremony, the First Lady presented awards to educators recognised as ‘Brilliance Teacher’ and ‘Best Overall Teacher.’ She also honoured top-performing students, including the national first-place winner in the 2023/2024 Cambridge O’Level examinations, three students who secured global top positions, and three who were named ‘Best All-Round.’

Following the event, the First Lady toured the school’s commemorative gallery, celebrating its decades-long contribution to Maldivian education.
