Fuvahmulah Triumphs as “Best Shark Diving Destination” at DRT Expo 2024

Fuvahmulah, often celebrated as the Maldives’ shark island, has been awarded the prestigious “Best Shark Diving Destination” at the 2024 Diving Resort & Travel (DRT) Expo. The accolade was received by Fuvahmulah City Council members Aminath Inaya and Abdulla Nasir Ali during the event held in Hong Kong from December 13th to 15th. This recognition underscores the island’s growing reputation as a premier location for shark diving enthusiasts worldwide.

The DRT Expo, known as the largest dive expo in the Asia Pacific region, provides a significant platform for dive destinations to showcase their unique offerings. Fuvahmulah’s distinctive underwater landscape, characterized by a submerged reef that extends deep into the ocean floor, offers an unparalleled diving experience that has captured global attention. This natural wonder allows divers to encounter a diverse array of marine life, particularly sharks, in their natural habitat.
