Ooredoo Maldives has wrapped up its inaugural Ooredoo Nation Inter-Resort Esports Tournament, marking a significant milestone in the country’s growing esports scene. The competition brought together gamers working in Maldives resorts for an intense showdown in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and PUBG Mobile, two of the most popular titles in the mobile gaming world.
The event, which was the first of its kind, drew 16 teams representing 10 resorts across the Maldives. Over the course of the tournament, resort-based gamers showcased their skills and passion for competitive gaming, highlighting the rising interest in esports within the hospitality sector.
Organised under the umbrella of Ooredoo Nation — the telecom company’s dedicated esports platform — the tournament reflects Ooredoo’s broader efforts to support and expand the local esports community by creating more inclusive and diverse opportunities for gamers from different walks of life.
The competition saw intense matchups and spirited rivalries, culminating in cash prizes for the top three teams in each game category. The initiative not only provided a platform for resort staff to connect through their shared interest in gaming but also emphasized the potential of esports as a recreational and professional avenue in the Maldives.
Speaking on the success of the event, Ooredoo Maldives reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing digital communities and building a robust esports infrastructure across the country.
The Inter-Resort Esports Tournament adds to the growing list of initiatives by Ooredoo aimed at promoting digital innovation and youth engagement through gaming and technology.
