The State Trading Organization (STO) has confirmed that recent disruptions to cooking gas supply in the Maldives have been resolved, with standard 10-kilogram gas cylinders now available once again.
An official from STO told media that a new shipment of cooking gas has arrived in the country, allowing distribution to return to normal levels through its subsidiary, Maldives Gas.
The temporary shortage had been linked to fluctuations in supply across global and regional markets, which affected the availability of cooking gas in the Maldives in recent weeks.
During the disruption, Maldives Gas introduced interim measures to manage demand, including the sale of smaller cylinders at reduced prices as an alternative to the standard 10kg units.
With the arrival of the new shipment, STO says the situation has now stabilised, and customers can once again purchase gas in regular quantities without restrictions.
A similar shortage had been experienced last month, which authorities were also able to resolve within a short period.
Officials said they continue to monitor supply conditions closely to ensure uninterrupted availability of cooking gas across the country.
