Bank of Maldives (BML) has opened applications for its 2025 Startup Grant Programme, with an expanded funding pool to mark the 10th anniversary of BML Islamic. This year, three emerging businesses will receive the prestigious grant — an increase from the usual two recipients — with each winner securing MVR 500,000 in funding.
In addition to financial assistance, recipients will benefit from personalised financial advisory services to help them effectively execute their business strategies. The programme is open to individuals and newly registered businesses across the Maldives.
BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said the initiative reflects the Bank’s long-term commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and strengthening the country’s startup ecosystem.
“The Startup Grant is part of the Bank’s commitment to support businesses and strengthen our relationship with the start-up ecosystem in Maldives. Through the programme, we are nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of the startup community to create jobs and opportunities to maximise positive impact for society” Shareef stated.
Applications must be submitted via email to [email protected] before 4:00 PM on 7 September 2025.
Launched in 2022, the BML Startup Grant aims to provide emerging entrepreneurs with the capital and guidance needed to launch or expand their ventures, creating employment opportunities and driving innovation in the local economy.
