In a significant reshuffle aimed at reinforcing President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s national development drive, the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has announced two key leadership appointments: Ahmed Zuhair as the new Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC), and Nazeem as the new Managing Director of Road Development Corporation (RDC).
Ahmed Zuhair, a veteran administrator with a track record of delivering results, takes over the top post at HDC following the resignation of Mauroof Jameel. Prior to this appointment, Zuhair served as the MD of RDC, where he played a pivotal role in implementing critical road development projects aligned with the government’s infrastructure agenda.
Zuhair’s appointment to HDC—one of the most strategically important institutions in the country—signals the administration’s resolve to fast-track urban housing solutions and smart city initiatives. His leadership is expected to inject new momentum into the delivery of large-scale housing developments across Greater Malé and beyond.
Filling the vacancy left by Zuhair at RDC, Nazeem has been appointed to lead the corporation. He previously served as State Minister at the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, where he was closely involved in policy formulation and project oversight. With his in-depth understanding of national infrastructure priorities, Nazeem’s appointment ensures continuity in the execution of transformative development projects.
These twin appointments come at a time when the government is accelerating efforts to fulfil its ambitious infrastructure manifesto. By placing experienced and trusted leaders at the helm of two of the country’s most vital state-owned enterprises, the Muizzu administration is reinforcing its commitment to delivering tangible progress to the Maldivian people.
With Zuhair at HDC and Nazeem at RDC, the message is clear: this government is building the future—with results, not rhetoric.
