The Hulhumalé Phase 3 land reclamation project has reached 87 percent overall completion, with 55 hectares reclaimed, signalling strong momentum in the government’s push to expand habitable land and ease housing pressure in the Greater Malé region.

The works, led by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), are being carried out using two high-capacity dredgers, Prins der Nederlanden and Oranje, each with a 22,000 cubic metre (CBM) capacity. The deployment of dual dredgers has enabled the project to progress at an accelerated pace, keeping the reclamation on track as a key infrastructure priority.

MACL commenced Phase 3 reclamation works on 10 November 2025, as the administration advances the national land expansion agenda aligned with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s broader vision of delivering practical housing solutions and improving urban planning outcomes in the Malé region.
The Phase 3 development is expected to play a major role in meeting growing demand for land and housing, strengthening long-term resilience and supporting the next stage of development in Hulhumalé.
