The meeting served as a platform to reaffirm the enduring friendship between the Maldives and the UK, with discussions centred on strengthening bilateral cooperation across key areas. Both leaders exchanged views on enhancing existing ties, reflecting the shared values and mutual respect that have characterised relations between the two nations for nearly six decades.

This high-level interaction comes just days before the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the United Kingdom, established on 26 July 1965. The milestone commemorates a long-standing partnership rooted in history and committed to future collaboration in areas such as climate action, education, governance, and economic development.
