The Maldives Expo 2025 commenced with grandeur on May 23 at Central Park, Hulhumalé, heralding a new era of economic empowerment and cultural celebration. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, accompanied by First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed, inaugurated the nation’s most extensive exhibition to date, marking a pivotal moment in the Maldives’ journey towards innovation and self-reliance.
The Expo, spanning from May 23 to May 31, operates daily between 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. It showcases the talents of over 383 participants across 14 categories and 82 subcategories, reflecting the diverse ingenuity of Maldivian communities from Haa Alif to Laamu Atoll. Notably, Malé and Thulhaadhoo in Baa Atoll contributed the highest number of entries, underscoring the widespread enthusiasm for national development.

The Expo is strategically divided into five thematic districts:
Creative Economy District: Highlighting Maldivian artistry through animation, filmmaking, and collaborative workshops.
Digital & Innovative District: Featuring advancements in AI, digital safety systems, and engineering prototypes, showcasing the nation’s technological strides.
Entertainment District: Offering live performances, TED Talks, and extreme sports demonstrations, providing dynamic cultural experiences.
Marketplace District: Presenting local delicacies, artisanal goods, and fashion, promoting homegrown businesses.
Sustainability District: Emphasizing eco-friendly practices and sustainable development initiatives.
The Expo’s inauguration was marked by a spectacular fireworks display, symbolizing the nation’s aspirations and unity. President Muizzu’s decision to host this landmark event, following a Cabinet recommendation on May 19, 2024, reflects his administration’s commitment to fostering economic growth and national pride.
