Maldives hits 2025 tourism high as 9,903 visitors arrive in a single day

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 2 hours ago

The Maldives recorded its highest single-day tourist arrival of 2025 yesterday, with 9,903 visitors entering the country, marking a major milestone for the national tourism industry.

Tourism statistics for 28 December 2025 confirm the record-breaking performance during the peak festive travel period, reinforcing the Maldives’ position as one of the world’s most sought-after holiday destinations. The surge comes as total arrivals for 2025 reached 2,223,698, already surpassing previous full-year records.

Industry stakeholders have credited the sustained growth to the strategic and relentless international marketing efforts led by Visit Maldives Corporation. Through high-impact global campaigns, airline partnerships, major event activations, and targeted market promotions, Visit Maldives has significantly strengthened destination visibility across Europe, Asia, and emerging markets.

China, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy continue to lead source markets, while resorts remain the preferred accommodation choice, reflecting strong confidence in Maldives’ premium tourism offerings.

The record daily arrival underscores the effectiveness of Visit Maldives’ long-term branding strategy and coordinated destination marketing, positioning the country for a strong close to 2025 and sustained momentum into the new year.
