By The Standard Published December 10, 2024

Addu City, Maldives – Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau has announced that over 260 officers from the Maldives Police Service underwent training abroad in 2024, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing the skills and professionalism of law enforcement personnel.

The announcement came during the closing ceremony of the 37th Police Initial Training course held in Addu City on Monday evening. Speaking at the event, Commissioner Shujau praised the administration’s support for providing international training and academic opportunities for police officers, which he said is crucial for building a modern and capable police force.

“The government’s unwavering support has been instrumental in facilitating these opportunities for our officers,” Shujau stated, expressing gratitude for the administration’s commitment.

Addressing the 171 recruits who completed the training, including 39 female officers, Shujau underscored the importance of integrity, discipline, and professionalism in their duties. He urged the new officers to maintain exemplary conduct both during and outside of duty hours, emphasizing that discipline is a cornerstone of effective policing.

“I urge all of you to uphold discipline and professionalism at all times, ensuring public confidence in the Maldives Police Service,” he said.

Shujau also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen the police force’s capacity, both in terms of infrastructure and skills, to meet the growing demands of law enforcement in the Maldives.

The 37th Police Initial Training program marks another milestone in the Maldives Police Service’s efforts to enhance its operational capabilities and improve public trust in the institution.
