Malé Business Owners Back Moosa Ali Jaleel for Mayor

By Hussain Shinan Published 9 hours ago

A group of business owners from across the capital has expressed support for Moosa Ali Jaleel, the People’s National Congress (PNC) candidate contesting for Mayor of Malé City, following a meeting held with entrepreneurs on Wednesday.

The engagement took place at the Manhattan Business Hotel, where Jaleel met with representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in the Malé area. The session provided a platform for business owners to raise concerns and discuss challenges affecting their day-to-day operations.

Participants highlighted several persistent issues faced by the business community, including limited parking availability and the shortage of adequate space for warehousing and storage within the capital.

Responding to these concerns, Jaleel said he would prioritise addressing such challenges if elected, noting that improving infrastructure and accessibility for businesses would be key to supporting economic activity in Malé.

The meeting forms part of ongoing campaign efforts by candidates to engage with key stakeholder groups ahead of the upcoming local elections, as they seek to outline their plans and gather feedback from the public.

Business-related concerns have remained a central issue in the Malé mayoral race, with candidates increasingly focusing on urban planning, logistics, and space constraints in the densely populated city.
