A 37-year-old man from GDh. Fiyoaree has been remanded in custody following his arrest over multiple allegations of child sexual abuse and exploitation, police confirmed.
The suspect, identified as Moosal Mueen of Rihidhodhi, GDh. Fiyoaree, also known on the X platform as @FoniLunbo, was taken into custody on February 26, 2026, in connection with an ongoing investigation into offenses involving minors. He was later presented before the court, which ordered a 15-day remand as investigations continue.
According to the Maldives Police Service, the allegations include engaging in age-inappropriate conversations with a minor, attempting to groom and exploit a child, and possession of explicit photos and videos involving minors on electronic devices. Authorities further accuse him of engaging in sexual acts with minors.
The investigation is being led by the Family and Child Protection Department, which specializes in handling crimes against children.
Police reiterated that offenses involving minors are treated with the highest priority, underscoring their commitment to taking firm legal action against perpetrators, including those involved in the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
The case remains under active investigation.
