The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has confirmed steady progress on the Boduthakurufaanu Magu north-side road development project, with Managing Director, DCP (Retd.) Ahmed Saudhee, personally inspecting works at the Segment 1 site yesterday.
According to MTCC, concurrent sheet piling and quay wall demolition activities are proceeding on schedule, marking a crucial phase in the project. Once completed, the development is expected to significantly transform urban mobility in Malé by widening key road networks and integrating modern infrastructure.
Enhancing Accessibility in Malé
The project is designed to ease chronic traffic congestion in the capital through expanded, pedestrian-friendly roads. A dedicated stormwater drainage system is also being installed to mitigate flooding during heavy rainfall—an increasingly frequent challenge in Malé. MTCC stated that these features will ensure safer, more resilient, and climate-adaptive infrastructure for road users.
