The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced significant progress in the Boduthakurufaanu North Side Road Development Project, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at easing congestion and modernizing Malé’s road network.
According to MTCC, precast panels required for the new quay wall have already been delivered to site. Installation works on C Channels and anchor blocks have been fully completed, marking an important structural milestone. Meanwhile, land reclamation works have reached 90% completion, signaling the project is entering its final stages.
MTCC further confirmed that 132 meters of sheet pile installation has been successfully completed for Segment 1 of the project. These works are part of a broader transformation to improve mobility in the capital by expanding and upgrading the city’s main thoroughfares.
Once completed, the project will deliver wider, pedestrian-friendly roads designed to ease daily traffic congestion. The development also includes a modern stormwater drainage system, which will reduce flooding during heavy rains and ensure safer, more resilient infrastructure for residents and commuters.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening Malé’s urban infrastructure, enhancing both accessibility and quality of life for the city’s growing population.
