Maldives Water and Sewerage Company has launched a blood donation drive in response to an urgent public appeal by Maldives Blood Services, which has warned that national blood supplies have fallen to critically low levels.
The initiative, which began yesterday, reflects MWSC’s commitment to supporting essential health services at a time of heightened need. The company stated that the drive is aimed at encouraging voluntary blood donation and helping replenish reserves required for emergency treatments, surgeries, and ongoing medical care.

The MWSC Blood Donation Camp was officially inaugurated by Managing Director Abdul Matheen, who called on employees and members of the public to step forward and take part in the life-saving effort. Speaking at the opening, he highlighted that donating blood is a simple yet powerful act that can directly save lives and strengthen national resilience during critical periods.
MWSC noted that collective participation is vital in addressing the current shortage and reaffirmed its support for Maldives Blood Services in ensuring a stable and reliable blood supply for hospitals across the country.

The company emphasized that the blood donation drive is part of its broader commitment to social responsibility, community health, and standing in solidarity with national institutions during times of need.
