President Muizzu and President Xi Pledge Stronger Future for Maldives–China Partnership

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held high-level talks this morning with His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, at the Tianjin Yingbin Hotel, reaffirming the close bond between the two nations.

President Xi warmly welcomed President Muizzu and praised the significance of his visit, describing it as a vital step in further consolidating the long-standing friendship and strategic cooperation between Maldives and China. He highlighted China’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Maldives in its development journey.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation and hospitality, President Muizzu underscored the honor of making his second official visit to China. He reiterated his government’s determination to strengthen bilateral ties, which have become a cornerstone of Maldives’ foreign relations and economic progress.

The leaders engaged in wide-ranging discussions covering economic development, trade and investment, security cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. President Xi assured that China would provide comprehensive support for the Maldives’ national development priorities and emphasized the importance of a results-driven partnership.

Both leaders agreed to take Maldives–China relations to new heights under the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership (2024–2028), reaffirming their shared vision for prosperity and stability.

The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to deepen cooperation, strengthen mutual trust, and advance the common interests of both nations.
