President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called for unity, compassion, and strengthened faith in his message marking Eid al-Fitr, while expressing solidarity with Muslims facing hardship around the world.
In his address, the President noted that this year’s Eid comes at a deeply difficult time for the global Muslim community. He emphasised that the people of Maldives stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine and others affected across the Middle East, offering prayers for peace, safety, and relief from suffering.
Highlighting the meaning of Eid, President Muizzu reminded citizens that the occasion is rooted in gratitude, worship, and kindness. He said Eid is a time to strengthen both personal and collective peace, encouraging people to show compassion and unity in their communities.
Reflecting on the holy month of Ramadan, the President urged the public to continue practising the values learned during the month. He called on citizens to speak with kindness, engage in good deeds, remain patient, and stay united. He also pointed to the six days of fasting in Shawwal as a continuation of devotion, encouraging people to remain committed in their faith beyond Ramadan.
Concluding his message, President Muizzu prayed for strength, dignity, and protection for Muslims worldwide, while seeking blessings for Maldives and expressing hope for a peaceful and prosperous year ahead.
In a separate post on X, the President described Eid as a symbol of Maldivian identity and unity, calling on citizens to revive long-standing traditions and cultural practices associated with the celebration.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also shared her Eid greetings, wishing joy, harmony, and togetherness for all Maldivians celebrating the occasion.
