President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called for renewed national commitment to safeguarding women and girls from all forms of violence, marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women with a message that places strong emphasis on both physical and digital safety.
In a social media post, the President stated that protecting every woman and girl is a fundamental responsibility of society, noting that true security can only be achieved when safety is guaranteed for all. He stressed that violence in any form has no place in the Maldives, adding that the nation must remain united in confronting the issue.
Highlighting the rapid expansion of digital connectivity, the President warned that online harassment and exploitation pose growing risks. He said that as technology becomes more deeply integrated into daily life, it is essential to ensure that digital platforms empower and uplift women and girls rather than expose them to harm.
He called on to work collectively so that emerging technologies become tools for advancement and contribute to national progress. The message was shared with the hashtags #ForAllWomenAndGirls, #NoExcuse and #ACTToEndViolence, aligning the Maldives with global efforts to end gender based violence.
