President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has confirmed that the Hulhumalé Phase 3 reclamation project is advancing at remarkable speed, with completion targeted for the end of December. He announced that land plots in the new district will be handed over to recipients starting January, marking a major milestone in one of the country’s largest housing expansions.

Addressing Henveiru residents on Monday evening at Kalaafanu School, the President directly responded to longstanding concerns over delayed plot allocations promised under the former administration. He noted that the progress on site is openly visible and credited the accelerated pace to strategic planning and the deployment of two dredgers working simultaneously.
According to the President, the government aims to finalise reclamation within the coming weeks. Once completed, authorities will immediately begin issuing plots and initiating registration for recipients of Phase 3. He added that many households under Phase 2 have already completed registration and received fully demarcated plots, enabling them to move forward with their residential plans.
The President stated that where land has already been available, plots have been handed over without delay. For areas awaiting reclamation, he reiterated that January will mark the beginning of handovers for Phase 3 recipients, aligning with the government’s pledge to fast track urban development and housing security.
This rapid progression in Hulhumalé underscores the administration’s commitment to delivering long promised housing solutions for Malé residents while reshaping the capital region through large scale infrastructure and residential projects.
