President Muizzu draws Maldives biggest ever political crowd at Artificial Beach rally

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 22 hours ago

The Maldives witnessed its largest political rally in history tonight as an unprecedented crowd gathered at Artificial Beach to welcome President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and mark two years of his administration. Senior PNC officials estimated that close to twenty thousand people filled the entire coastal stretch, surpassing attendance figures of any previous political event in the country.

The President arrived at approximately 8:45 PM to a thunderous reception. Supporters lined the pathway to the main stage and waved national flags and PNC colours as he greeted citizens before stepping onto the platform. He was received by PNC Chairperson and Speaker of Parliament Abdur Raheem Abdullah, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, and members of the party’s leadership.

Crowds stretched continuously from the surf area to Alimas Carnival, with additional groups spilling into Majeedhee Magu and Boduthakurufaanu Magu. By early evening, the entire waterfront had transformed into a packed sea of supporters, many of whom said they had travelled specifically to hear the President’s speech.

Tonight’s event was organised to showcase the achievements of President Muizzu’s government since taking office and to present the administration’s development roadmap for the next three years. Attendees described the rally as a powerful display of public confidence in the government’s direction and a collective endorsement of ongoing national projects.

As anticipation built ahead of the President’s address, the atmosphere remained energetic, with supporters chanting, waving flags, and capturing the historic gathering on their phones. Many noted that the scale of public turnout demonstrated a renewed sense of national unity and momentum behind the government’s current policies.

President Muizzu’s speech is expected to outline key accomplishments delivered during the first half of his term and detail the major initiatives planned to transform the country’s infrastructure, services, and economic outlook.
