President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is set to serve as the chief guest at this year’s national Fishermen’s Day celebrations in Dhuvaafaru, Raa Atoll, as part of a one day official visit focused on recognising the country’s fishing community and advancing island development.
The President and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed departed this morning for Dhuvaafaru, where the official Fishermen’s Day ceremony is scheduled to take place this evening. President Muizzu is also expected to participate in a series of activities organised to commemorate the occasion and engage directly with fishermen and local residents.
In addition to the celebrations, the President is scheduled to inaugurate several development projects on the island and formally mark the completion of others, highlighting the administration’s commitment to delivering tangible improvements at the island level.
Officials said the visit reflects the government’s broader agenda to strengthen the fisheries sector while ensuring balanced development across the atolls.
The President is accompanied by several cabinet ministers and senior officials from various government institutions, underscoring a coordinated national effort to support fishermen and accelerate community focused development.
