President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with members of the Maldivian community residing in Germany as part of his ongoing official visit to the European nation.
The engagement formed part of the President’s broader visit undertaken at the invitation of Frank-Walter Steinmeier. During the trip, President Muizzu has held high-level discussions with the German President and senior government officials, in addition to participating in a business forum aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between the Maldives and Germany.
Addressing the Maldivian community, President Muizzu said that meeting citizens living overseas remains a key priority during his official foreign visits. He conveyed his greetings and best wishes to those gathered and acknowledged the important role diaspora communities play in representing the Maldives abroad.
Community members were given the opportunity to meet the President individually, allowing them to raise concerns and speak about the challenges they face while living outside the country.
The President reiterated his commitment to listening to the grievances of Maldivians residing overseas and working towards practical solutions. Since assuming office, he has consistently included diaspora engagements in his official travel programmes, meeting Maldivian nationals in each country he has visited.
The Germany visit marks another step in ongoing diplomatic and economic engagement between the two nations, while also reinforcing the administration’s focus on maintaining close ties with Maldivians living abroad.
