President Muizzu Meets UK House of Commons Speaker to Strengthen Maldives-UK Ties

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with The Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, Speaker of the UK House of Commons, during a courtesy call held today at the historic Speaker’s House in the Palace of Westminster, London.

In their discussions, President Muizzu and Speaker Hoyle reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between the Maldives and the United Kingdom, emphasizing the importance of working together on pressing global and bilateral issues. The leaders focused on enhancing cooperation in environmental conservation, promoting sustainable tourism, supporting the fisheries sector, and advancing democratic governance — all critical priorities for both nations.

To commemorate the meeting, President Muizzu signed the Palace of Westminster Guestbook, symbolizing the strong diplomatic ties that continue to evolve between the two countries. He was also given an exclusive guided tour of the iconic parliamentary building, further highlighting the warmth and respect shared during this high-level engagement.
