President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to meet with residents of Malé City’s Mahchangolhi district tomorrow night, continuing his series of direct community consultations across the capital.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Heena Waleed, the meeting will take place at Aminiya School at 20:30. In a message posted on X, Heena said the gathering is intended to give Mahchangolhi residents an opportunity to share their views, concerns, and suggestions directly with the President.
“All residents of Mahchangolhi are invited to this meeting,” she said.
Part of a Broader Nationwide Engagement Initiative
The event forms part of President Muizzu’s ongoing commitment to remain closely engaged with citizens — a pledge he reaffirmed during celebrations marking his administration’s second anniversary last week. During that ceremony, the President highlighted the importance of continuous dialogue with the public as a central component of his development strategy.
Over the past two years, President Muizzu has visited every inhabited atoll, meeting with island councils, Women’s Development Committees, and local administrators to identify pressing needs and refine government policy. He described these sessions as “highly productive,” noting that community recommendations have shaped several key national initiatives.
A New Phase of Consultation in the Capital
The President has now shifted his focus to more targeted engagements within the Greater Malé Region. Yesterday, he met with residents of Vilimalé, marking the start of a district-by-district consultation series covering:
-
Henveiru
-
Maafannu
-
Mahchangolhi
-
Galolhu
-
Vilimalé
-
Hulhumalé Phase I and Phase II
These meetings aim to capture the distinct needs of communities within each neighbourhood and ensure that the government’s urban development plans reflect real, lived experiences.
Upcoming Meetings With Businesses and SMEs
President Muizzu has also announced plans to hold dedicated sessions with small and medium-sized enterprises, including businesses led by women and youth. The goal, he said, is to strengthen economic inclusion and address the unique challenges faced by emerging entrepreneurs in the capital.
The consultation with Mahchangolhi residents is expected to draw significant public interest, as the district is home to a diverse population and key commercial areas.
The meeting will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at 8:30 PM at Aminiya School.
