President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his commitment to restoring national stability and institutional harmony, assuring the Maldivian people that his administration will end the politics of revenge and uphold the independence of the judiciary without compromise.
A Pledge for Peace and Justice
Speaking at a public gathering in Fonadhoo, Laamu Atoll, President Muizzu said his government’s core objective is to fulfil promises through stability, fairness, and rule of law — not division or political persecution.
“We are fulfilling the promises we made to the people through this comprehensive approach I mentioned” President Muizzu said.
“For every promise, I said that we would bring stability to the nation. We will eliminate the spirit of revenge from the country. There will be no political arrests. Nothing like what happened before will occur to any extent”
The President’s remarks come at a time when the government faces continuous scrutiny from opposition parties — but Dr Muizzu’s tone remained calm, confident, and focused on unity.
Judicial Independence Above All
President Muizzu assured citizens that the judiciary will operate without interference, and that his government’s role is to strengthen and support the sector — not to control it.
“We will not interfere with the judiciary. Nothing of this sort,” he said firmly.
“The beloved people of the Maldives will see that these things are happening as I have said. We will not do anything that happened then”
He emphasized that judges and legal professionals across the country can personally attest to his government’s non-interference policy.
“The judges working in the judiciary and all parties in the judicial sector will testify to this. The truth is that this government will not exert any influence on the affairs of the judiciary. What they should do is establish justice. They should proceed with fairness.”
Institutional Cooperation for National Stability
President Muizzu underlined that the stability of the Maldives depends on the cooperation of all three branches of the state — the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary — each fulfilling its constitutional duties responsibly.
“Establishing stability in the country is the responsibility of all institutions” he said.
“It is the responsibility of the three branches of the state. Among these, the judiciary is a very important power. What the government will do is facilitate the needs of the sector. We are doing that. God willing, we will continue to do so”.
A Government Focused on Unity, Not Division
By promising to remove “the spirit of revenge” from national politics, President Muizzu has positioned his administration as one of reconciliation and reform, contrasting his approach with the politically charged climate of the past decade. His repeated assurance — that there will be no political arrests or persecution — signals a deliberate shift toward stability and public trust.
“What we are doing is building a Maldives where people live without fear — where justice stands above politics, and where every promise is fulfilled through peace and progress” he concluded.
With these pledges, President Muizzu continues to frame his leadership around discipline, stability, and fairness — defining hallmarks of a government seeking to heal divisions and restore confidence in state institutions.
