The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has forecasted rain across various parts of the country today, with some islands likely to experience heavy downpours. The warning comes in the latest weather bulletin issued by the MET Office, which remains in effect until sunset.
According to the bulletin, wind speeds are expected to reach up to 40 miles per hour within cloud bands moving over the region. These gusts may lead to temporary weather deterioration in several islands, particularly where the cloud activity is most concentrated.
The bulletin also highlights rough sea conditions, especially in the central and northern regions of the country. The MET Office noted that these seas will remain hazardous throughout the day, while the southern seas, though initially moderately rough, are expected to worsen under the influence of the same cloud bands.
Wave heights are projected to reach between four to seven feet, prompting authorities to advise extra caution for seafarers and those planning marine travel. The public is urged to remain alert, stay updated with official weather notices, and avoid unnecessary travel by sea during this period of unsettled conditions.
