Red Bull Heist in Malé: Man Sentenced to Nine Months for Warehouse Theft

By Ahmed Ashraf Published January 30, 2025

In a recent ruling, the Criminal Court of the Maldives sentenced Mohamed Adam, hailing from Palace House, GA. Dhaandhoo, to nine months and 18 days in prison for his involvement in a 2019 warehouse burglary in Malé. Adam was found guilty of unlawfully breaking into a Euro Marketing warehouse and stealing 12 cases of Red Bull energy drinks.

The incident, which took place on March 8, 2019, also implicated Ahmed Arif of Naseemee, GA. Kolamaafushi. Arif had previously confessed to the crime and was sentenced accordingly. During Adam’s trial, the prosecution presented Arif’s confession along with CCTV footage capturing both individuals committing the theft. Despite Adam’s denial of the charges, the court concluded that the evidence proved his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The standard penalty for this offense is nine months and 18 days of imprisonment, which the court duly imposed on Adam.
