SATA 2025 to Shine in Colombo, Celebrating South Asia’s Finest in Travel and Hospitality

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 12 hours ago

The South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) is set to return to Sri Lanka this year, with its 9th edition scheduled for 19–20 September 2025 in Colombo. This highly anticipated event promises to bring together leading figures from across the region’s tourism and hospitality sectors to celebrate excellence, innovation, and resilience.

Since its inception, SATA has become a hallmark of regional recognition, previously hosted in iconic locations such as Mount Lavinia, Galle, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Addu City, Kathmandu, and Malé Atoll. The upcoming edition’s return to Colombo marks a symbolic homecoming, reaffirming Sri Lanka’s status as a key player in South Asian tourism.

This year’s awards have attracted remarkable participation, with over 500 nominations submitted across a wide range of categories that honor outstanding properties and service providers. The response underscores the industry’s dynamic growth and the increasing competitiveness of the region’s travel offerings.

A highlight of the event will be the grand Gala Ceremony in Colombo, a city renowned for its vibrant culture and hospitality. Beyond celebrating individual and organizational achievements, the ceremony offers an invaluable platform for networking, collaboration, and promoting regional tourism synergies.

SATA’s growing influence is further cemented by the endorsement of more than 18 prominent tourism boards and organizations. Among them are the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO), and The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL), each lending significant credibility and support to the event.

As anticipation builds, Colombo prepares to welcome industry leaders and distinguished guests from across South Asia, setting the stage for what promises to be a memorable celebration of the region’s best in travel and hospitality.
